A CRITICISM OF KEN WILBER ON MEDITATION

Wilber and his Dog, Isaac

Although my esteem for the thinker, writer, and creator of the world of Integral Thinking, Ken Wilber, has been rather high as I learn more about his work, it's now even higher. Today I received a monthly newsletter updating one of his websites, Integral World, and in this update there is a blurb,
~"08/25/05. A link to Jim Andrew's paper "Ken Wilber on Meditation" has been added to the Criticism section." ~
I go to "Integral World" and find under "Criticisms" a moderately lengthy article by one Jim Andrew who quotes a fragment from Wilber's own writing, “People think that being awakened means you understand everything, but it really means the opposite. It means you don't understand anything. It is, all of it, a total Mystery, a baffling babbling of unending nonsense.” One Taste (page 142) in the title of Andrew's critical essay, "Ken Wilber on Meditation: A Baffling Babbling of Unending Nonsense." This is startling. In the top level worlds of spiritual merchandising where millions of dollars are at stake, NEVER ever is a whiff of negativity or a questioning of the gurus thinking allowed. Yet here it is. Not quite sure I understand, but this is certainly a breath of fresh air. So Kudos to Wilber and staff.
And while on the subject of gurus and the rating of same, there is a great online rating of a very large collection of gurus and wanna be teachers called Sarlos Mueslings,(now with 30% more CREDIBILITY, he says). It's actually a great read.

For those of you unfamilar with Wilber, here's a great quote. And his main commerical site.
