WAY KICKED UP STREET ART

There is an Artist living in London. Julian Beever. A young Artist. A pavement Artist using chalk, chalk on tile, or paving tile, ok, a street artist who uses chalk to draw on pavement and who manipulates the way the brain constructs the visual world and creates some awesome 3D artwork. Yep, you heard correctly. 3D. Seems our brain creates the 3D experience of the world from the 2D light patterns that fall onto our retina at the back of the eye. This process takes advantage of many of our assumptions of the visual world, such as the fact that textures will fade as they go farther away, parallel lines will tend to converge in the distance and that objects will seem larger the closer they are.

Check it out. Here's Marilyn. Julian is real. Marilyn is not.

And then Marilyn in 2D.

And some Favorites.

But see for yourself.
